My Top 4 Car Seat Recommendations

From a mom of two — the exact seats we use, the ones we're adding for baby girl, and the one that makes solo outings with a newborn actually doable.

Car seat shopping is one of those things that sounds simple until you're actually in it. The options are overwhelming, the specs are confusing, and everyone has an opinion. So let me save you some time.

I've been through this twice now — once with Brayden and now preparing for our daughter arriving this July — and I've learned a lot about what actually matters versus what sounds good in a product description. These four seats cover every stage, every need, and every budget situation I've personally navigated.

Here's exactly what we use, what we're adding, and why.

The Car Seat Recommendations

Graco car seats

Graco® TriRide 3-in-1 Reclining Car Seat

This is the seat that's been with us since Brayden was small — and we still have it. The 3-in-1 versatility is the big win here: it grows with your child through rear-facing, forward-facing, and high-back booster stages so you're not buying a new seat every year. It's solid, reliable, and the Kipling pattern holds up beautifully over time. If you want one seat that truly carries you through the toddler years without drama, this is it.

Graco Turn2Me 3-in-1 Rotating Convertible Car Seat

This is the one we're adding for the new baby and honestly, I'm excited about it. The rotating feature is the game-changer. Instead of awkwardly maneuvering a rear-facing infant into position, you rotate the seat to face the door, buckle them in, and rotate back. As a mom who will inevitably be doing solo car rides with a newborn, that ease of use matters more than I can explain. It rear-faces from 4 lbs so it's ready to go from day one, and it grows with her just like the TriRide did with Brayden.

Graco 4Ever DLX 4-in-1 Convertible Car Seat

I've heard amazing things about this one. The 4Ever DLX is exactly what it sounds like: a seat designed to literally grow from infancy all the way through booster age, so you're buying one seat that lasts for years. The machine washable seat pad is a massive practical win (because messes happen), and the multi-position recline means you can actually get a comfortable angle for every stage. LATCH compatible for easy installation. If you want the one-and-done premium option, this is the answer.

doon

Doona Car Seat & Stroller

Okay — this one is in a category of its own. The Doona is the car seat that transforms into a stroller in seconds without removing your baby from the seat. No transferring. No unbuckling. No waking up a sleeping newborn. You just click out the wheels and go. I cannot overstate how much this changes solo outings in those early months when you're navigating parking lots, coffee shops, and doctor's offices on your own. We're planning to use this for the first few months while baby girl is a newborn, and then switching to the Graco Turn2Me. If you have a baby shower coming up — this is a gift worth putting at the top of your registry.

No matter where you are in your motherhood journey — first baby, second baby, or just researching, I hope this breakdown of my top 4 car seat recommendations saves you some time and decision fatigue.

All four of these seats are linked through my shop so you can grab them without having to search. And if you have questions about any of them, drop a comment or send me a DM — I'm happy to talk through what worked for us and what I'd do differently. 🧡
